OCEAN RACER

Forespar's Ocean Racer style tiller extensions were designed for the larger offshore racing yachts that still use a tiller rather than a wheel. They are infinitely adjustable between their minimum and maximum lengths. Forespar has designed a comfortable double grip composite handle to help eliminate fatigue during extended use in heavy seas. The infinite position locking mechanism is controlled by a trigger in the handle.

Constructed of white powder coated anodized aluminum with a choice of two stainless steel attachment fittings, this tiller extension is built to withstand the rigors of offshore competition. The Ocean Racer is available with either the "FTP" Quick Release detachable end fitting or the new StaFAST permanently attached end fitting.

SWIVEL STICK

Forespar's economical fixed length tiller extension features the removable Speed Lock (SL) fully universal composite end fitting mounted on rugged 5/8" diameter black anodized aluminum tubing with rubber ball style handle.

It is designed for smaller boats (up to 22' maximum) and is available in four of the most popular lengths.

The Speed Lock (SL) ends are fully universal and have been proven very strong and reliable on boats to 30 feet plus. The composite universal swivel slides into a base that is permanently mounted to the tiller. To remove, simply push down on the "Speed-Lock" button and slide the extension off the base. Very light, yet rugged, the "SL" ends hold up to the constant twisting and bending of the extension handle when in use. The Speed Lock universal is threaded into the end of the tiller extension handle allowing for easy replacement should it be necessary.

In over three years we have yet to see a broken "Speed-Lock" end fitting. It is ideal for one-design racers and any dingy class, providing excellent response and "feel" while allowing full universal movement.

TWIST LOCK

Forespar's Twist-Lock Tiller Extensions consist of a complete line of hiking sticks with designs and lengths to satisfy every sailor. Five telescoping models are available based upon three end fitting styles and two length ranges, depending on your preference for detachable or permanent style end fittings and the configuration of your tiller.

In addition, two non-telescoping models (STX) are also available in two standard fixed lengths.

Constructed of white powder coated anodized aluminum with a rubber ball style comfortable grip and an assortment of stainless steel end fittings, these tiller extensions have become an industry standard. In addition, the new* Forespar "twist-lock" style tiller extensions are designed to work in either direction. This design has the advantage that if you forget which way you "locked" the unit, you can "unlock" it without forcing it to jam.

Maintenance Tips: Do not lubricate or wax your telescoping tiller extension. This may cause the lock to slip or prematurely wear out. Flush with fresh water or white vinegar if salt deposits become a problem. Tiller extensions cannot be used as a lever. They are strong under tension and compression but will bend if fallen against or stepped on during tacks. Bent tiller extensions are not covered under warranty.

QUICK RELEASE (TFP)
(Detachable)

The "TFP" style tiller extension with quick-release stainless steel end fitting has long been the most popular for a wide variety of boats. Racers and cruisers use this rugged twist-lock telescoping detachable extension on boats in the mid to high 30Õs. Because they are detachable, they need not be stored on the tiller.

The all stainless steel "TFP" quick release end allow for full horizontal and vertical movement of the tiller extension and it can be removed with the simple push of a button located on the top of the fitting.

Mount the socket about two "hand-grips" back from the tip of the tiller extension. This allows you to hold the tiller with comfort when not using the extension. When drilling the hole for the socket on a wooden tiller, be sure to drill slightly over-size then back-fill with wood sealer or epoxies to protect the wood from water absorption. Also be sure the hole goes all the way through to allow for drainage.

The socket O.D. is 1/2" by 1" long.

Sta-FAST (SF)
(Permanent Mount)

The "Sta-Fast" style patented end fitting has the unique ability to hold the tiller extension up-just where you left it- without falling down below the level of the tiller. No more falling down out of reach! This "holding" feature is adjustable on the permanently mounted "Sta-Fast" end.

The "Sta-Fast" style end is very strong and also features a double plate mount that keeps the thru-bolt from turning inside your tiller. The plates mount top and bottom on the tiller and also serve as a chafe-guard for the top of the tiller. Permanent mount only.

When mounting the "Sta-Fast" style end, be sure to seal the mounting holes to stop water absorption. Mount the end about two hand-grips back from the end of the tiller for comfort when not using the extension. Tubing clips are available separately to lock the extension in place on the tiller when not being used.

Incorporates a 5/16" thru bolt which will accommodate tiller thickness up to 1 1/2"

FIXED LENGTH (STX)

A Fixed Length version of our popular Twist-Lock tiller extension is available in two standard lengths or custom lengths (OEM special order). This tiller extension, constructed of white powder coated anodized aluminum with a rubber ball style grip, incorporates the new Sta-Fast end fitting which has the unique ability to hold the extension "in place." No more falling down out of reach!!

This "holding" feature is adjustable on the permanently mounted "Sta-Fast" end.

Incorporates a 5/16" thru bolt which will accommodate tiller thickness up to 1 1/2".

TILLER LOCK BOX

This inexpensive product turns any of ForesparÕs ball-grip style telescoping tiller extensions into an effective and adjustable tiller lock. Installed into the cockpit coaming, your tiller extension can be used to lock your helm in place while at anchor or if you are single handed and need to jump free of the helm for a short time to clear a sheet or secure a line. Not intended to be a self-steering device but a helm lock
